BMW M5 Touring Set for Mid-Cycle Refresh With Design and Tech Updates

BMW is already developing a facelift for the M5 Touring, despite the current generation having only recently launched. Spy prototypes indicate the high-performance wagon will receive a series of design and technology updates in line with BMW’s typical mid-cycle refresh approach.

At the front, the updated M5 Touring is expected to feature revised headlights with new LED light signatures inspired by BMW’s latest design language. Subtle adjustments to the kidney grille and larger bumper intakes are also likely, enhancing the car’s aggressive appearance without straying far from its established look.

Changes at the rear should be more restrained, potentially limited to updated lighting graphics and minor bumper refinements. The signature wide stance, flared arches and quad-exhaust setup are expected to remain intact, preserving the model’s muscular identity.

Inside, BMW is anticipated to introduce the latest version of its iDrive system, bringing updated software, improved responsiveness and enhanced connectivity features. A revised display layout and new interior trim options could further modernize the cabin.

Under the hood, the facelifted M5 Touring should retain its plug-in hybrid twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 powertrain. The setup currently delivers a combined output of around 717 hp (535 kW), with standard xDrive all-wheel drive ensuring strong traction and performance.

The refreshed M5 Touring is expected to debut around 2027, helping BMW stay competitive in the expanding high-performance luxury wagon segment.
