Ferrari Names First EV Luce, Showcasing a Driver-First Vision for the Electric Era

Ferrari has confirmed that its first fully electric production car will be called Luce, offering an early look at how the brand plans to move into the EV world without losing its soul. Set to arrive later this decade, Luce is positioned as a bridge between Ferrari’s combustion heritage and its electric future.

A major focus of the project is the interior, which Ferrari describes as deliberately minimalist and driver-led. Instead of dominating the cabin with oversized touchscreens, the layout centres on simplicity and instinctive use. Essential controls are placed around the steering wheel and a compact central interface, allowing drivers to stay focused without unnecessary visual clutter.

According to Ferrari, the Luce cabin is designed to feel natural rather than digital-heavy. Information appears only when required, supported by ambient lighting, small displays and haptic feedback. This approach replaces the screen-first philosophy seen in many modern EVs, aiming to preserve a sense of engagement and control behind the wheel.

While technical specifications have not yet been fully revealed, Ferrari has confirmed that Luce will be engineered and built in Maranello. The car will use in-house electric motors and battery systems, with development priorities centred on balance, driving feel and emotional connection rather than chasing extreme range figures. Pricing is expected to place Luce among the most expensive models in Ferrari’s lineup.

The name Luce, meaning “light” in Italian, reflects Ferrari’s intent to approach electrification with elegance and restraint, creating a distinctive identity in the high-performance electric segment rather than following existing trends.
