The Most Sold Cars in Cyprus So Far in 2026

The car market in Cyprus has started 2026 on a strong note, with registrations rising compared to last year. During the first two months of the year, passenger car registrations increased by 13.7%, reaching 6,917 vehicles.

One trend continues to define the market: used cars still dominate, accounting for about 65% of all registrations, while new cars represent roughly 35%.

When it comes to brands and models, the familiar names remain at the top. The Kia Stonic continues to be one of the island’s best-selling vehicles, maintaining the popularity it built in previous years.

Close behind are several SUVs that have become common sights on Cypriot roads, including the Hyundai Tucson, Nissan Qashqai, and Volkswagen T‑Roc.

Another familiar contender is the Kia Sportage, which remains a consistent seller thanks to its mix of practicality, modern tech and strong value.

Beyond individual models, the biggest shift in 2026 is happening under the hood. Hybrid cars now make up nearly half of the market, while petrol and diesel vehicles continue to decline in share. Fully electric vehicles are growing slowly but still represent a small portion of registrations.

For now, one thing is clear: SUVs dominate the Cypriot market, affordability still drives many buying decisions, and hybrids are quickly becoming the powertrain of choice for many drivers on the island.
