Toyota has taken the already impressive GR Corolla and elevated it to new heights with the GRMN variant, a limited production model honed extensively at the Nurburgring and in Japan’s Super Taikyu Series. This five door, two seat hot hatch features an aggressive aerodynamic package that sets it apart, including a new hood duct, front quarter panel louvers, tweaked front bumper with aero fins, and an enlarged adjustable rear wing offering five levels of adjustment in one degree increments.

Under the bonnet, the 1.6 litre turbocharged three cylinder engine produces 300 hp, with torque increased from 400 Nm to 415 Nm. An intercooler spray system enhances performance, similar to the latest GR Yaris. Engineers have fitted bespoke front and rear shocks with new springs, revised electric power steering, and an updated all wheel drive system for better rear torque distribution and high speed stability. The GRMN rolls on wider 245/40 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and new forged matte bronze wheels.
Weight saving measures, such as deleting the rear seats and adding a carbon fibre hood, shave 30 kilograms off the curb weight. Inside, drivers will find glass fibre reinforced polymer bucket seats, carbon fibre accents, and an Alcantara trimmed steering wheel with a red 12 o’clock marker. Power is sent exclusively through a six speed manual transmission.

The GRMN Corolla will reach North America and Australia in limited numbers, though market specific pricing has not yet been revealed. Toyota will soon introduce the Corolla Morizo RR, which shares many upgrades but pairs them with an eight speed automatic.
