Audi Reveals New RS5 With 600+ HP Plug-In Hybrid Power

Audi has officially unveiled the next-generation RS5, confirming that both Sedan and Avant variants are entering the hybrid era — and doing so with significantly more power than before. The new model pairs a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor in a plug-in hybrid configuration, delivering a combined output of more than 600 horsepower. That represents a substantial increase over the outgoing RS5, while still channeling power through Audi’s signature quattro all-wheel-drive system to maintain the brand’s performance DNA.

Beyond the headline power figure, the hybrid system also enables limited pure-electric driving capability, improving efficiency and lowering emissions without compromising acceleration. It marks a pivotal shift for the RS badge, blending traditional combustion performance with electrified assistance as Audi continues preparing its lineup for an increasingly electric future.

Visually, the new RS5 adopts a sharper and more muscular stance. A wider Singleframe grille, larger air intakes and slimmer LED headlights give the front end a more aggressive presence, while flared wheel arches and signature oval RS exhaust outlets reinforce its performance credentials. The Avant continues Audi’s tradition of combining super-sedan pace with everyday practicality, while the Sedan offers a sleeker silhouette with identical mechanical capability.

Inside, the RS5 features Audi’s latest digital cockpit layout, including a fully digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen with RS-specific performance displays. Updated materials, sport seats and configurable drive modes allow drivers to tailor suspension, steering, power delivery and hybrid response to suit their preferences.

With the move to plug-in hybrid power, Audi positions the RS5 as a direct rival to a new wave of electrified performance models. Whether enthusiasts celebrate the added power or miss the simplicity of a purely combustion setup, one thing is certain: the RS5 has entered its hybrid era — and it hasn’t lost its edge in the process.
