Playground Games had gamers revving at Microsoft’s Developer Direct, unveiling Forza Horizon 6’s sprawling Japanese open world—five times bigger than before. It hits Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on May 19, with PS5 rolling in later this year.

The cover stars Toyota’s rare GR GT supercar alongside the Land Cruiser, a Horizon first for two rides from the same brand. This ForzaTech beast, kicking off on Xbox 360 back in 2012, keeps the focus on chill cruises, deep tuning, and multiplayer vibes over sim-racing grit.

Design director Torben Ellert spilled on snagging early GR GT prototypes: “We got in really early with pre-production models.” Building that dual-world magic? “It takes forever—in the game and real life.”

GR GT boss Takashi Doi raved about the sound: “It’s essential, delivering pure thrill.” Ellert added mic setups for cockpit roars, exterior growls, even drive-bys in online lobbies.

No skipping to stardom—you start as a tourist eyeing the festival from afar. The GR GT steals the multi-car intro spotlight. Full car list TBA, but topping FH5’s 900+ with gems like the Honda e? Expectations are sky-high.
