Audi has officially revealed the 2027 Q9 and high performance SQ9, introducing the largest SUVs in the brand’s history. Positioned above the Q7, the new flagship models are designed primarily for the North American market, where Audi expects around two thirds of production from its Bratislava, Slovakia plant to be sold. Built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), the Q9 will compete directly with the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover.
Measuring 5,311 mm in length with a 3,139 mm wheelbase, the Q9 is significantly larger than the current Q7. The exterior adopts a cleaner design language with smooth body surfaces, digital Matrix LED headlights, curved OLED taillights, illuminated Audi rings and a newly illuminated front grille.
Powering the Q9 is a 2.9 litre turbocharged V6 producing 429 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, paired with an eight speed automatic transmission and quattro all wheel drive. It accelerates from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and can tow up to 7,700 lb (3,493 kg). The SQ9 upgrades to a 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 591 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm), reducing the 0–60 mph time to 3.8 seconds. Adaptive air suspension is standard, while rear wheel steering and a rear biased quattro system enhance handling.
Inside, buyers can choose between seven seat (2-3-2) or six seat (2-2-2) layouts. The cabin features three digital displays, an expansive panoramic glass roof, power adjustable seating throughout and an available 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen 4D audio system. Premium options include ventilated, heated and massaging seats for both the first and second rows.
The 2027 Audi Q9 will go on sale in North America later this year, with U.S. pricing starting at $89,095 for the Q9 and $119,395 for the SQ9. European availability and pricing are expected to be announced at a later date.
