Smart has offered its clearest look yet at the upcoming #2, the long-awaited successor to the iconic Fortwo. A series of eye-catching murals appearing in cities around the world preview the compact electric city car ahead of its official world premiere at the Paris Motor Show this October, with sales scheduled to begin in 2027.

The new two-seater marks Smart’s return to its urban roots after expanding into larger electric crossovers such as the #1, #3 and #5. Designed by Mercedes-Benz and engineered jointly with Geely, the #2 is built on Smart’s dedicated Electric Compact Architecture (ECA), developed specifically for compact electric city cars.

Measuring just 2,792 mm long, the #2 remains true to the Fortwo’s compact philosophy while offering a slightly larger footprint. Smart is targeting a 300 km driving range, 10–80% DC fast charging in under 20 minutes, vehicle-to-load capability and an exceptionally tight 6.95-metre turning circle, although final production specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.

The teaser images reveal familiar short overhangs and wheels pushed to the corners, combined with a more modern design language featuring slim LED lighting and cleaner body surfacing. Inside, Smart has previewed a premium cabin with high-quality materials and a more spacious layout, though some concept features may not reach the final production model.

With the #2, Smart aims to revive one of the automotive industry’s most recognisable city cars for the electric era. Full specifications, pricing and market availability will be announced when the production model makes its debut in Paris this October.
