Bugatti has revealed the Destrier, the latest creation from its ultra exclusive Programme Solitaire, transforming the extreme Bolide into a one off masterpiece that blends the brand’s motorsport DNA with coachbuilt elegance. Built around the Bolide’s carbon fibre monocoque, the Destrier stands less than one metre tall, making it the lowest Bugatti ever produced.

Named after the prized medieval warhorse ridden by knights, the Destrier replaces the Bolide’s aggressive aerodynamic elements with cleaner, sculptural bodywork inspired by Bugatti’s historic grand tourers. It features 20 inch front and 21 inch rear wheels, a wider horseshoe grille, a more pronounced Bugatti C-line finished in chrome, and a subtle integrated rear wing inspired by the Chiron Profilée. According to Design Director Frank Heyl, the Destrier is “not a car you understand with your head; it is a car you feel with your heart.”

Finished in an exclusive Sapphire Celeste paint infused with diamond like particles, the one off hypercar combines polished aluminium trim with exposed tinted carbon fibre. Inside, the stripped out Bolide cockpit has been transformed with brown leather, nubuck, a bespoke 3D knitted textile woven with copper threads, and hammered aluminium details inspired by medieval armour.

Power comes from the Bolide’s quad turbocharged 8.0 litre W16, producing 1,600 PS (1,578 hp) and driving all four wheels through a seven speed dual clutch transmission. Bugatti has not disclosed the car’s price, but with only one example being built, it is expected to command a significant premium over the Bolide.

The Bugatti Destrier will make its public debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week on 16 August, continuing Programme Solitaire’s tradition of creating unique coachbuilt masterpieces for the marque’s most exclusive clients.
