Hyundai Ioniq 3 Debuts as Compact Electric Hatch Focused on Europe

Hyundai has officially revealed the new Ioniq 3, a compact electric hatchback aimed squarely at European buyers, expanding its growing EV lineup with a more affordable and practical option. Built on the brand’s 400-volt E-GMP platform, the model adopts a sleek “aero hatch” design, achieving a drag coefficient of around 0.26 while maximizing interior space.

The Ioniq 3 will be offered with two battery options. The Standard Range version uses a 42 kWh pack delivering up to 344 km of WLTP range, while the Long Range model features a 61 kWh battery capable of reaching around 496 km. Fast charging allows a 10–80% top-up in roughly 29 minutes, with support for AC charging up to 22 kW.

Power comes from a single front-mounted motor, producing up to 145 hp in the Standard version and slightly less in the Long Range model. Acceleration to 97 kph takes around 9.0 seconds, positioning the car more as an efficient daily driver rather than a performance-focused EV.

Inside, Hyundai focuses heavily on space and usability. A flat-floor layout and extended wheelbase improve passenger comfort, while cargo practicality is boosted by a hidden “Megabox” storage area. The cabin also introduces the new Pleos Connect infotainment system, running on Android Automotive OS and displayed on screens up to 14.6 inches.

Additional features include premium options such as ventilated seats, a Bose sound system, and advanced driver-assistance tech. Despite its compact footprint, the Ioniq 3 is designed to deliver strong everyday usability for families and urban drivers alike.

Pricing in Europe is expected to range between €28,500 and €31,300, with a market launch planned for 2026. However, Hyundai has no current plans to introduce the model in the U.S.
