Mercedes-Benz Recalls 144,000 Vehicles Over Blank Infotainment Displays

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 144,000 vehicles due to potential infotainment control unit issues that can cause the displays to go blank. The problem may lead to a temporary loss of critical driving information shown on the instrument cluster, with no prior warning to the driver.

Affected models include the 2024-2026 AMG GT, C-Class, E-Class, SL-Class, CLE-Class, and GLC-Class, along with high performance variants such as the C63 S E Performance. According to the recall documentation, the control unit might initiate an increased number of system resets as a fallback measure, briefly interrupting the display.

The company first addressed the concern last August through an over the air software update aimed at reducing the system’s sensitivity to reset triggers. Mercedes issued the update on July 9, 2025. By April, around 62 percent of the impacted vehicles had already received it. A safety recall was launched in Korea in December 2025 following reports of black screens.

Mercedes has confirmed it is not aware of any crashes or injuries linked to the defect, though it has received numerous warranty claims, field reports, and service notifications. The automaker is proceeding with the formal recall following discussions with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aligning with how similar display problems have been handled by other manufacturers.
