Jensen International Automotive has revealed the Interceptor GTX, an extreme modern interpretation of the classic British grand tourer. The first version is designed exclusively for the circuit, with road legal GT and GTR models planned to follow.

At its heart is a heavily reworked supercharged 6.8 litre V8 based on General Motors LT series architecture. Developed with Texas based Late Model Engines, the unit produces 960 hp in its initial specification, with potential for up to 1,200 hp and more than 1,000 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six speed Samsonas sequential transaxle, while drivers can shift using paddles or a conventional lever. Future road going versions could also offer an H pattern manual.

The GTX sits on an all aluminium chassis with unequal length control arm suspension, three way adjustable dampers and 20 inch Vossen wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.

Its styling takes inspiration from the original Interceptor’s long bonnet and fastback proportions without simply copying the classic. Hand formed aluminium bodywork, recessed LED lighting and a distinctive glass rear section reference Jensen’s heritage, while aggressive aerodynamic elements turn the GTX into something far more extreme.

A large splitter, side skirt fins, huge rear diffuser and adjustable rear wing help generate more than 771 lb of downforce.

Inside, the track focus continues with an FIA approved roll cage, carbon fibre Tillett seats, six point harnesses and a fire suppression system.

The Interceptor GTX remains an enhanced prototype and will now enter dynamic testing. Production numbers are expected to be extremely limited, primarily targeting the UK market, while pricing and delivery dates have yet to be confirmed.
