Lexus is gearing up to unveil a new fully electric SUV on May 6, widely expected to carry the TZ nameplate and serve as the zero-emission counterpart to the three-row TX. Teasers released on social media showcase the silhouette of a family hauler based on the upcoming Toyota Highlander EV, though with a more aggressively tapered roofline for a sleeker profile.

The redesigned bodywork will feature a fresh lighting signature, split LED headlights, a covered singleframe grille, toned fenders, sculpted doors, and large alloy wheels. Influences from the rugged GX are evident in the hood design, while the greenhouse and door handles are likely shared with its Toyota sibling. The vehicle rides on a modified TNGA-K platform, measuring 5,050 millimeters in length with a 3,050-millimeter wheelbase.
Inside, expect an upscale cabin worthy of the Lexus badge, including a carried-over 14-inch infotainment screen and a three-row layout, possibly offering six-seat configurations. Trademarks filed in 2023 for TZ450e and TZ550e point to two powertrain variants. The related Toyota model offers front-wheel-drive with 221 hp and all-wheel-drive with 338 hp, paired with battery packs of 77 kWh or 95.8 kWh delivering up to 515 kilometers of range.

Positioned as a more luxurious option, the Lexus TZ will compete against models like the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Volvo EX90. Pricing is anticipated to exceed the Toyota sibling, which should start in the low to mid €50,000 range. The debut will stream live on YouTube on May 7 at 10:30 am JST. Sales will target North America and Japan, with production potentially in the US or Japan.
